3 Essential Questions to Ask Your Physician Following an Injury

Physician checking a woman's neckThe first thing you want to do following a car accident is to seek treatment from the nearest chiropractor in Salt Lake City. While there, Apollo Health adds that there are some important questions you need to ask your physician, even when you don’t feel that the injury is serious. Here are three of them:

What caused the injuries?

While this may seem like a rhetoric question, it’s an extremely crucial one. Your medical records need to show what caused your injuries. These details are referred to as the history of your injury. Injury history is especially important if the car accident happened during work and you intend to claim compensation.

What is the prognosis?

As soon as your doctor has made a list of the injuries resulting from the accident, ask them what your prognosis is. You want to know if you’re going to get better, and how long that might take. Keep in mind that the prognosis is your doctor’s educated guess and may not necessarily be accurate. Still, it gives you a good idea of what to expect.

Can you still work?

Sometimes, the injury seems small to you, and you may not feel a lot of pain. That could make you think that you can return to work immediately, but don’t trust your instincts. Ask your doctor whether you should head back to work immediately. If they give you the green light, then you are okay. If they say you can’t work right now, ask them how long you should wait.

Understandably, the moments following a car accident can be quite frenetic, but your physician should help make things better. While undergoing treatment, it’s smart to get as much information regarding your injury as possible to enhance chances of full recovery and compensation.
