Losing Weight: Starting Your Journey

Measuring tape at the waistWhen you’ve finally decided to lose weight, getting started can be overwhelming. There may be plenty of resources and tips to help you out, but it is best to focus more on how you can kick start on your journey and change your life for the better. This is because deciding or thinking about losing weight is not always easy to do or pursue.

MÜV Fitness has some suggestions to help you get started.

Consider your motivation.

It is a good idea to list down your reasons for losing weight. Is it because you want to look healthy, fit in older jeans, or reduce your risk of certain diseases?

Write them all down on paper and use the list as a reminder, especially when you’re tempted to skip the gym or eat a bag chips. You can also share your goals with others and get fit with them.

Take your breakfast.

Some think that skipping breakfast can help them lose weight. This is not necessarily true, as this meal jumpstarts your metabolism. This, furthermore, can help you avoid overeating at lunch and other meals. Just be sure to eat a well-balanced meal that includes fruit, protein, and whole grains.

Drink enough fluids.

Water is the best beverage for losing weight and staying healthy. It can also act as an appetite suppressant and make you feel full when you’re hungry. Research suggests that drinking water before a meal can help reduce your appetite, which then lowers calorie intake, resulting in weight loss. It can also lower your risk of gaining weight.

Start with light exercises.

Eating less alone cannot help you lose weight. You need to get moving. Cardio exercises are a good start, but you also have to try other routines like lifting weights. If you feel lazy, start with some light exercises and work your way up. A couple of minutes each day is enough, but don’t forget to increase its intensity. Working with a fitness trainer can help.

If you have finally decided to be healthy, start now. Don’t put off your plan and wait for the right time. The right time could be now.
