Using condiments add flavor to any kind of dish. But, what will you do if you run out of condiments in your fridge? It’s easy! You can use your leftover ingredients. By doing this, you can save money and get healthier and more natural condiments at the same time.
The Magic From Leftover Ingredients
Instead of letting your excess ingredients spoil in the fridge, make condiments out of them. Even the juice from your roasted chicken can be made into lip-smacking Au Jus mixes or gravy with just a few kitchen magic. From the juice of the meat, just add flour, cornstarch, and salt and pepper to taste with a small amount of water. Mix it all in low temperature heat until you achieve the perfect creaminess.
What can you do out of those egg yolks? Use them as an ingredient for a perfect mayonnaise dip. Combining it with mustard, garlic, oil, and lemon juice, you can achieve a tasty and organic mayonnaise for your salad snack.
Got extra tomatoes? Try making a ketchup dip. Chop tomatoes with onion and red bell pepper. Over a moderate heat saucepan, press these vegetables to make a puree. Cut a square of cheesecloth with spices, salt, black pepper, vinegar, and brown sugar for tomato mixture. Stir it frequently and cook it for 25 minutes. Taste and add any additional spices you want.
You can also make tomato-based homemade barbeque sauce from leftover barbeque mix –the sauce where you marinated the meat. The ingredients are pretty basic, so chances are you already have them on hand. In a saucepan with medium heat, create a barbeque mix with honey, garlic, chili pepper, tomato puree, sea salt, mustard, and smoked paprika. Mix everything until appropriate texture is achieved.
Cooking experiments are always fun, whether you want to try a new healthy dip or use your leftover ingredients. With excess meat and vegetables, you can create new recipes and avoid wasting food.
